Bill, I think I must have missed something.  Why is there a focus on
Mauna Loa?  There are hundreds of separate stations built on that
model located around the globe and operated by a couple of agencies,
one US public and one private (Scripps.)  All show the same effects,
though not at the same time (southern half has seasons with winter and
summer flipped relative to each other) and not always with the same
amplitudes of annual or diurnal oscillations.  Did I miss something
about why there is such a focus on dealing with one site??

Ravinghorde has got a bee in his bonnet, again.

Oh.

I'm trying not to be rude to him, but it's getting difficult.

Understood.

I've a great deal of respect for anyone who struggles towards a
comprehensive view and works at developing good thinking habits, no
matter how wrong their tentative conclusions may be at the time. Most
of us have had to stand before a group of peers and make a case, only
to find that there were flaws unseen which others seemed then to find
so quickly! But working towards the same thing -- a better
understanding -- is what is respected.

The antithesis is lazy ignorance -- an entrenched unwillingness to
work for one's opinion, to struggle to put the larger view together,
and a belief that ignorant and informed opinions are all the same --
as though it were a matter of political right guaranteed by some
charter or law. But an equal right to an opinion isn't a right to an
equal opinion. Informed is more often than not, much better.
