My point is that a patent from the 1970s will have expired by now.

That depends upon whether it was filed in the 1970s or granted in the
1970s.

There are patents currently in force which were originally filed prior to
WW2. Once a patent is filed, the grant (and subsequent expiry) can be
delayed by continually submitting revisions. This is commonly termed a
"submarine" patent.

Are you trying to compete with DimBulb?

No, but you appear to be.

Patents, since the '80s, expire 20 years from THE DATE OF FILING.

Since 1995, when the US ratified TRIPS.

"Submarine" patents are a thing of the past.

Not until 2012 (1995 + 17 years).

So you admit to the lie?

What "lie"? Check your calendar; it isn't 2012 yet. There are patents
currently in force based upon the date of grant, not first filing. They
are not *yet* a thing of the past.

E.g. US patent 5,132,080:

http://www.freepatentsonline.com/5132080.html

Publication Date: 07/21/1992
Filing Date: 11/28/1944

Filed 1944, will expire in July.

A *rare* exception.

You said;

^^ present tense

Which you've admitted to being a lie. You're an admitted liar.
QED.
