Reformat, do a fresh install, and click the "I'm the only one who uses

Wipe and re-install is out of the question; the owner does not want that.
Why? That would certainly accomplish what you want. Or is it a bootleg
WinME and you don't have a legal CD?
Good Luck!
Rich
I believe i already answered that; the e-machine had WinME
pre-installed and (so far) is a one-owner machine.
Is that model still listed on the Emachines support page? The
Emachines Windows ME restore disks only look for an Emachines BIOS, so
if you can find the drivers, it takes about an hour to reformat the
drive and install the drivers. I recently used the Windows ME restore
disk that came with an old E-tower series to put Windows ME on a t1220
series that was shipped with XP.
There are several Emachines mod groups that can help you find almost
anything you need. You never gave a model number, BTW.
...have the problems solved except that the defrag refuses to go further than about 5% complaining it needs scandisk which reports all OK.
