The problem is that "evolution" as taught is a cartoon of science.
Nobody knows how life originated and nobody understands how DNA works.
The fact that we see a chain of fossils is merely observational. How
reptiles actually turned into birds is still just hand waving. Merely
naming random mutation and selection, and walking away satisfied, is
not a lot better than invoking God The Creator.
Like climate, there's so much unexplained about evolution that
orthodoxy is unjustified. It's fear of being called "soft on religion"
that keeps people from straying into any real thinking.
