Re: need participants for an international study

Thanks for sharing that Pete. Are you saying that you have experienced
employers spying/monitoring your computer usage?

Hi all,

I'm conducting an international study on individuals' attitudes towards
how computers should be used at work and views on how responsible
employers should be when it comes to protecting our computers from
spyware and viruses. I still need about 500 indviduals.

I would really appreciate it if people could complete the survey, found
here:
http://weblab.org.uk/cgi-bin/surfcontrol/page1e.pl

Moreover, I thought it would be interesting for the list and for me to
post your views on this on the list. Do you believe that people from
different countries would have different views would be different to
other countries.

Kind Regards,

Hmmm... how computers should be used?

1. Remove all access to them from politicians : they use them as
substitute (or perhaps primary in some cases) brains, and see them as
some form of salvation. When all they have is a hammer, everything
looks like a nail. When all they have is a computer with a database,
everything looks like a table of easily solvable numbers.

2. Ditto from school. I am not a Luddite (completely) but computers in
school is about as much use as tits on a boar hog. There are some who
might benefit, but I have yet to see the utility. My son has always had
computers in school, and told me it was a pretty useless exercise.

3. At work? Leave me alone to get the job done. If you use snooping
software (and I *will* find out - there are ways), I won't work for you
any more.

Cheers
