Re: video senders

LCD TV sets do not sync lock exactly the same way as CRT sets. The CRT
set uses horizontal and vertical scanning with direct phase and sync
lock. The LCD set uses XY addressing that is derived from the video
signal, only using the horizontal and vertical sync as a reference.
Because of the way that the LCD sets process the input signal, when
looking at composite video signals, the signal source has to have very
accurate specifications for the sync, burst and blanking content of the
video.

The problem with the low cost home type video senders is that their
accuracy for their sync spedifications is not accurate enough for your
LCD set. The more expenisve type industrial video modulators will work
for you. But, these would not be cost effective for you. If

That is the reason why your sender will work with a CRT set, and not
with an LCD set. There are some LCD TV models that are more tollerant
for sync offsets or errors.

The unit I have been trying is a scart plug module, (type Nikkai) from
Maplins. After trying 3 different LCD tv's, I am unable to get it to
work. My local Euronics store advises me that video senders will not
work with LCD tv's. I emailed Audioline and their reply was that they
sell many video senders and have not had this problem reported so maybe
my sender is faulty. Because the unit I have, works with a standard CRT
portable tv Maplin say the unit is not faulty. I have tried the
receiver unit with 2 Digilogic sets and a Mikomi, both of which have
the same input/output socket panels so I presume they are 'branded' for
Tesco & Argos, from the same stable. Has anyone actually got a video
sender to work with an LCD tv, or is this an unknown compatability
problem? Your comments please would be much appreciated.
