That would be handy if you could plate them with Iron. Copper
dissolves in solder and contaminates it.
I used to make tips for my Weller SP23 irons out of leftovers from
large brass welding rods. Thread the end, then use a large pair of
dykes to cut it off. A file or sharpening sone removed the burrs, then
I tinned them in a solder pot with acid flux. They lasted longer than
the iron plated tips, because the brass already had a lot of tin in
it.
I've used brass to make forked tips for removing surface mount R's &
C's. Trouble is they tend to stick to the tip which is no good if you
want to re-use them.
