This is not a particularly easy problem for an inexperience novice to
troubleshoot and repair but if you wish to research this further you should

There, with some searching and reading you will find a lot of useful
information.
I would really suggest that if after reading through the repairfaq that you
are still not certain how to proceed that you should take your VCR to a
service shop for at the very least a repair cost estimate so you can make an
intelligent repair decision with facts instead of guesses.
