Samsung DVD P-231 player

Good day,gentlemen (and ladies).
My own DVD player Samsung DVD P-231 went belly up.
It still plays nicely regular music CDs, but fails
on DVD and MP3 disks with "No disk" error.
Of course, I cleaned the reader, to no avail.
I have read all postings and even out of my own experience,
I see that it may be not economically worth of repairing it.
Anyway, do I have any hope for an optimism? The fact that it
plays regular CDs is confusing - maybe it is still possible to
do something about it.
