The angle adjustment for the traverse is easy to correct, but you also messed
with the pots for the laser gain of both the red and IR emitters, which is not
good at all. You probably just made something that was likely a simple problem
much worse now.

The problem may have likely been dust accumulation, which means that you would
have to airblast the entire drive clean of any dust as well as airblasting the
insides of the optical pickup. You would also have to relubricate the sled
path and kicker worm gear with low viscosity grease, such as molytone.

In the case of PS-2s with the Sanyo pickup, a metal peg to the left of the
white traverse tilt adjustment gear sometimes pops underneath it. You simply
reposition the peg back into place on the gear's teeth and align the peg
between two alignment holes on the gear.

I'm afraid so, if you can locate a source for it. However, if you marked the
old adjustments on the pots and are able to reset your tweaks, you might be
able to recover it. That is, provided that the lasers aren't damaged.

There have been two different makes of pickups used in the PS-2, both using a
dual laser/single pickup configuration and are easy to identify.

A Sony pickup can be identified simply by looking on the top of the pickup and
observing the "SONY" brand molded on the top of the black pickup housing next
to the objective lens.

A pickup without a Sony brand is the Sanyo.
