I do that as well. After soldering leads or connectors, seal them with
a medium temp hot glue to reinforce the fix and avoid stress breaks.
I use hot glue in jacks and coax connectors as well to avoid stress
and pull breaks and avoid shorts or grounding.
(After soldering the leads in my mini stereo jacks I give it a squirt
of hot glue then screw on the plastic boot. They last much longer that
way.)
