Simple solution:
Use a bit of tape and something to pad the power on switch on the set
so it's always depressed.
Use a plug-in type timer on the power cord and set it for the desired
intervals.
When the timer sends power to the set it'll then go on and the timer
switch will act as the "off" switch to turn it off.(try a dime and
some packaging tape to depress the power on switch.)
You could also wire in a small toggle or latching push button switch
to the power on board contacts on the tv and mount the switch on the
front of the set.
