We had one a number of years ago. When problems were more than a simple
one, we had to send it out to their authorized service. They would not
sell us any parts or service information, as like most other computer
hardware manufactures.

One time it was not starting up all the time. We found out that it was a
defective fan. Apparently the fans in the unit we had, were sensed. If
the fan was defective in any way, the unit would shut down. Another time
the unit failed it was the main power supply. They refused to sell us a
supply. We had to send them the complete unit for them to change the
supply for us. After spending an hour on trying to troubleshoot the
supply, I found it not worth the time in relation to having them change
the supply for us. Without any schematics, and source for parts, it is
sort of futile to spend too much time on this type of thing.

About it year ago, the Infocus unit failed again. This time, it went to
the dumpster and that was the end of the problems with it. We replaced
it with a Sony unit. For service, it is the same problems with this new
one. We made a 3 year service contract that covers a full warranty. If
something dies with it, we will pack it up and send it off to their
service rep.

Hi I have picked up an InFocus LP420 projector which appears to have a
psu
fault. The lamp is new and the unit was working for about 1 hour and
then
cutting out. Now the fan starts up and sounds as if the voltage is
increasing and decreasing. I have opened the unit and resoldered various
dry
joints which has made no difference. I can't find any info on this model
for
a circuit etc does anyone have any pointers or help.
TIA
Jim O'Donnell
