This is based on panasonic chassis and panasonic CRT.
History: Changed flyback on speculation and fault remained unchanged
so I looked at the CRT board for any signal. No video signals except
for correct voltages. Hmmm....snap try this:
I had a spur of moment and remembered to use medium value resistor as
troubleshooting device (I used 1K resistor to ground) and tapped with
other end of that resistor for a instant the one of three cathodes.
Flash of colored vertical line. Aha, monitor is in deflection fault
shutdown. Cool, unusual to see that feature to cut out the video on
deflection failure.
Now my question, what is common failure that prevent horizontal sweep?
I know this chassis has seperate HV and deflection design. HV is up,
but the horizontal deflection is not working because the big heatsink
is still cold. I know from experience if the horizontal transistor
shorts this will keep power supply from started up or burn a resistor
which this monitor did not show this behavior.
Give your thoughts & suggestions on this.
Cheers,
Wizard
