On your model of set, a failing CRT is the general cause of your
observation. It is possible that some failed components on the CRT board, or
the main board is the cause, but this is rare in the case that you are
describing.
The best approach for you is to take your set in for an estimate to find out
if your set is feasible to service. Considering if the set is older than
about 4 to 5 years, I would retire it, and get a new set.
