First, I will not get into a flaming war on the internet. If I did it would
be a sure indication that I did indeed need to "get a life or some
counselling" as you suggested. So this will be my one and only reply to you.
When I did my original reply I did not notice that it was being cross-posted
to several sites (something else that I don't do). The sites other than ford
newsgroup might have standard practices of charging for info, but on the
ford newsgroup thousands of dollars of valuable information and knowledge
are gladly given for free every day (some of which has helped you
personally). I don't think anyone else here would call anyone a
"freeloader", we have some people that have the training or experience to
help others and some people who don't and can benefit from it. I myself used
to be pretty helpful here but have found as my vehicle has gotten older I
have less and less valuable info to share. If you are implying that I
personally am a free loader, do a google search for sehaare here (most post
here will be between 94 and 2000)or the VW water-cooled group or
VWvortex.com and you will see that I've helped out quite a few people (in
fact I just did the search for you and found 37 pages of results).
Scumbag maybe too harsh of a word. You can choose you own word for someone
who:
1) Post to a group whose main function is to give free help, and then tries
to charge for his help.
2) When someone else post to give free help on the item that he is trying to
charge for, he then impersonates a lawyer and sends a threatening email.
(and as someone else posted it appears that this is not the first time he
has done so).
I don't mind someone trying to make a buck off of the internet but, you
don't try and do it in a forum that is mainly non-profit and you don't
attack someone else who has figured out the same thing and is willing to
help others for free.
