If you record on this machine and then play it back on the SAME
machine, does that work well? If so, I'd say that the tracking is
simply off.
Have you tried adjusting the tracking while trying to view a
prerecorded tape? Try it; there should be some effect.
Try adjusting the tracking while viewing a self recorded tape. If that
doesn't seem to have any effect at all, then there must be a problem
with the tracking adjustment/control circuit.
