Re: Need Sony Service bulletin for changes to bd board

Model: KP-53XBR300, KP-53HS10
KP-61HS10, KP-61XBR300
Subject: AKB Error When First Turned ON Date: August 1, 2001
Symptom:
(2311) When the unit is first turned on from cold start the LED flashes
5 times at first power-
ON, and no picture is received. If turned OFF and then ON again picture
is present.
Unit will play the rest of the day without any problem.
Solution: If the customer should complain of the symptom above please
perform the following
circuit changes to the BD Board.
Note 1: Some BD boards had countermeasures applied at the factory.
These
boards do not need to be reworked in the field. See illustrations 1
through 3 for
identifying the boards that have had countermeasures applied at the
factory.

Illustration 1
Carefully peel up the coper tape
on the side edge of the board.
Illustration 2
Lift up the shield from the board, using the
long copper tape as a hinge.
Illustration 3
Factory-reworked boards have a 10K chip
resistor mounted near R1924; no further
rework is necessary.
TV Products Service Bulletin No. 484R2
Note 2: The specific procedure depends on whether or not the original
service
bulletin had been performed previously.
· If R1709 and R1713 are both mounted on the board and are 470 ohms,
the
original bulletin was not performed previously.
· If only R1713 is mounted and is 100 ohms, and R1709 is not mounted,
the
original bulletin was performed previously.
· New BD boards received from WRPC-AS must also be checked to see if
the
original bulletin was performed previously.
Procedure for BD boards that have not had the original bulletin
performed.
1- Change R1709 and R1713 from 470 ohm to 1K ohm.
2- Remove Q1701.
3- Add a 10K resistor to the A-side of the BD board near C1741 as shown
in the
illustration.
4- Check the solder joints of all pins on IC1718 and touch up if
necessary.
