Samsung TV/VCR Combo plays no tape

the VCR module (of the combo is CXB1922/CX. Had a tape jammed, I was able
to remove it (w/o breaking anything) now the rollers, etc all go back and
forth pretending as if there were a tape loaded and it was playing it. As
such, it sends a PLAY signal to the TV on screed display, which must be
stopped manually. But it keeps cycling, with its phantom tape it keeps
trying to play.

All the caps look intact. Any thoughts?
