The biggest problem with usenet, is that it's either the wild west, like this group, or it's locked down totally, there is no middle ground, like there is with other technologies, like Yahoo groups, which allows wide, open, locked down, and several partial levels in between, user moderation, message moderation, message moderation for some users, but not others. ...
