resolder all pins in and around the vertical IC. had to do this last
year on a similar set.

PS. holding down 'i' on the remote at switch on (if i recall correctly)
puts the set in service mode and defeats the protection shutdown so you
can see the problem but BEWARE this can harm the set if left on.
