I don't shop at Walmart so I'm not sure what sort of tags they use but I
was under the impression that security tags are a resonant antenna of
sorts which are deactivated by a strong RF source burning out a link in
them.
No, not the ones I'm seeing. White plastic case about an inch long
less than 0.1" thick and 1/4" wide. Inside are three pieces of metal.
They look sort of like mu metal or a nickel steel alloy. They have
different permeability (or one was different from the other two - been
awhile).
The manufacturer must be adding them because they are under the
blister packs if not on the item itself.
No antenna like a standard rfid, no electronics at all.
