Why don't take your circuit board over to an electronics parts supplier in
your area, and see if they can identify the switch for you? Maybe there is a
chance that they can identify a generic one that will fit. If not, then you
are stuck to buy the complete board from the dealer. Many of the automobile,
and motorcycle manufactures have their parts custom made.
Since there is most likely no proper generic part number or identification
on the switch, there is a good chance that this part was custom made for the
manufacture of your car. I have seen this many times before with automotive
parts.
If the switch you want is a custom job, then you are stuck to pay the price.
Considering that an automobile is an investment of many thousands of
dollars, logically there is no point in squabbling about paying out eighty
bucks in change to fix it! Besides, if you change the complete control
unit, maybe the new one will be more reliable than the one you repaired.
Also, many of the IC's and devices on these units are custom made for the
automobile manufacture. You cannot buy most of these electronics parts at
the local electronics parts supplier.
What are you going to do when you need a new set of tires for the car? Get
used ones???

hi folks,
the window up/down switch of my honda civic blew a gasket and went out
in a flame. in other words my passenger front switch in my driver
side main unit no longer works. it shorted out, blew the fuse, but
before blowing the fuse the switch had a meltdown.
the switch is removed from the board and needs to be replaced. the
dealer wants about $83.00 for a new control unit, but i prefer to
repair only what is broken. does anyone have a suggestion where a
switch of this type can be found for purchase?
thank you for your suggestions.
photos can be provided. send me your email and i will respond with a
photo.
Thanks,
