Phillips DCC900

I have a DCC900 digital cassette deck. It plays analogue tapes fine but suddenly stopped reading digital tapes cleanly. I don't think it is a serious fault because it will occasionally sense a tape and play a bit but it sufferes dropouts.

It played well when it was put away. I dragged it out just to play with it a bit (gone retro :-) ). So the time sitting idle 6-7 years seems to be a factor perhaps.

Does anyone know the likely cause of this. Or even a list of common faults?

Are there service docs available on the 'net?

Regards Wilfred
