Probably not, but it won't run either. You need one wire to go to hot,
and
the other wire to go to hot through a capacitor to shift the phase and
create the rotating field.
So its a scrapheap job then :-(
Oh well, glad it didnt cost me anything :-)
Why? The capacitor should be easy to find, it might even be the one attached
to the motor. Hook it up and try it out.
