I got a used 1992 Phillips 21" set. Set it manually to channel 73 for
Dish Network, to replace a smaller set at the same RF connection. It
worked normally with Dish Network, where the remote changes channels.
Turned it off, still plugged in and connected to Dish Network.
Next day, turned it on, it did not retain the previous channel 73
setting, had defaulted back to channel 2.
The smaller older set was a 1985 Toshiba, but it retains the last
channel setting used, like any other TV I've used.
Is there a problem with the Phillips, or is this common in newer
sets?
if you turn it off into standby with the remote, it should probably
switch on with the last channel watched. If however the hard on-off
switch on the set was used then it will revert to the forst channel
tuned in. in your case 2.

No remote, so a hard off each time. Basically same with my 1985 Toshiba,
no standby, the Dish Network remote was used for power off. And it kept
it's channel setting.
