Why is it that the other fellow here who posted a message trying to
sell a bunch of old LM3909's got flamed repeatedly for posting
something for sale here, but no one seems to mind this thread selling
a scope?

So it's OK to post stuff for sale here, as long as it's sufficiently

No, it's simply that it was missed, or people just get tired of the ongoing
fight to keep the ads out of the newsgroups.

It must have gotten lost in the clutter of off-topic messages, the ones
where people are asking computer software questions, the ones where people
are asking about selecting video surveillance cameras, the ones where
people are asking rudimentary questions that belong elsewhere in the
sci.electronics.* hierarchy. Keep the clutter going, and it's impossible
to catch every instance.
