Re: Wavy lines on new tv

Hi!

Do you see these lines on everything you watch or just selected programming
from certain inputs? For example, is it there only on the tuner or is it on
everything?

What kind of a TV set is it? (Make/Model)

I'd start by looking for sources of electrical interference if all the
inputs on the set are equally affected. If that isn't the problem, check
your cables and playback devices. Your set's behavior doesn't necessarily
indicate that a failure is about to take place.

I can't tell if the lines are on every channel/program or not. I've
looked and looked at that screen and it doesn't look like they are
there on most channels. They seem to appear most often on the gray/
black screens that appear when trying to view Comcast OnDemand. The
gray/black screen comes up and says something like - Comcast One
Moment Please. Those are the screens I usually notice them on. In
addition, I think I noticed them while watching a show taped off Sci-
Fi on the VCR.

I'll try watching a few DVDs again and see if I notice it there.

I do wonder if it could a connection problem of some sort. I've got a
digital cable box which is connected to the VCR via coaxial cable. The
VCR is then connected to the TV via the coaxial cable Comcast gave me
to go with the digital cable box. Then the DVD player is connected to
the TV via Composite jacks that came with the DVD player. All of that
equipment is plugged into a surge protector, except for the coaxial
cables.

I've had electrical interference in the tvs in the past. Up until a
month or two ago, everytime someone pumped up the air mattress in the
other upstairs bedroom, the two upstairs tvs would get horizontal
lines in them. Something I did must've changed that because I no
longer get the lines. I figure it's one of three things, 1) I switched
from analog cable boxes to digital (I still have the analog boxes so I
could test that out), 2) I plugged the other tv into a surge
protector, 3) I no longer am using the electrical outlet that is
operated by a switch with the other tv, in the other room.

The tv is a 27" Sanyo HT27547. The tv actually belongs to my parents.
They weren't ready to buy an LCD and/or widescreen tv yet. This was
the only decent CRT tv I could find in the area.
