I need to find a source for a sound effect that runs on 12v DC or
110v AC that will make a sound like the old style telephone ringers.
I need something that is stand alone and doesn't need to connect to
an existing phone line. I want to press a button and have the ringer
ring, like you might imagine happening live on stage.
I've done a little research and I know that the old style phones use
voltages and frequencies other than the usual 110v 60Hz. I've been
searching the web and have found boxes that attach to existing land
lines. I'm looking for something that doesn't need phone level
signals to get the sound.
Please reply directly as well as to the group.
Thanks in advance,
Dr Doug
if you look for "ring generator" you may find one that has a 12vDC input
and a about 100v AC output, forget what freq. we used it in somw box
to generate the the ring signal. 1"x1"x.5"

They run at 20 Hz from 90 to 105 VAC. You can find 120 VAC powered ring
generators. Then just use an old style phone.
