Depends where the tap is, but in general, you're right. Back in the 50's,
though Vancouver, BC tap water was so clean it would not conduct.
That HAD to be pretty well ion-free.
I could probably get by with the stuff I'm draining from my air conditioner
at the rate of a gallon every 24 hours or so, though.
It doesn't take much to clean up water, just a simple, basic still will do
it fine.
