When was any serious "global cooling" theory proposed? I must have
missed that.

Forty years ago (or longer) the concern of which way the climate might
turn began to be considered. Increases in CO2 concentrations in the
atmosphere were known but it was not at all clear what changes, if any,
this would bring. It's really only over that last 15 years that the
science has pointed to a true warming trend. Visit EPA's WWW site for
the US climate science FAQ. Surely this administration would not lie to
us? Would it?

You rant and rave about nazi environmentalists. If you go back and look
at much of the environmental legislation and when it was passed, you
will find much of it came in Republican (read typically conservative)
administrations. The original Clean Air Act and EPA were spawned by
Nixon. Regan presided over some serious environmental statutes and
implementing regulations. The senior Shrub gave us the acid rain
legislation that was market based and that has worked pretty well.

Dubya has been a real departure from that tradition. He'd like us to
have more arsenic in our drinking water and more mercury in our air.
