I have another observation. Notice the timing regarding when the U.S.
started worrying about global warming. Once we clearly had the upper hand
on the Soviet Union, THEN and only then did we search for another goblin to
grapple with. One would think that due to the seriousness of the problem,
the U.S. and the Soviet Union would have had good cause to put aside their
differences and confront such a threat in a cooperative fashion.

If you're a politician, it seems to make good sense to scare the hell out of
the public, then rush in to solve their (non-existent) problem just in time
to get re-elected.
