30 million barrels a day amounts to 10 billion barrels per year. And
that is just OPEC.

At the end of world war II (1945), the whole world was producing only
two billion barrels of oil a year; the US was the largest producer then
at 1.25 billion barrels per year.

Even if we have maintained our productive capacity (I don't know) we
still would be in the same pickle.

Alternative fuel sources (gasohol and biodiesel) from biomass are sorely
needed.

The 55 mph speed limit or its modern equivalent could return.

Car-pooling and short work weeks + work at home may come as interim
solutions.
