Are you trying to set up a strawman that we must base all energy on a single
energy source? Where does this idiocy come from? Do you have some illusion
that our present energy infrastructure is purely based on crude oil???

If you want a total solution than I suggest solar power satellites and
synthesis of fuels from raw electricity. Metallic zinc might make a suitable
storage system that can drive mobile vehicles. However, that is a bit far
ranging at this point I wouldn't trust NASA with anywhere near that kind of
development responsibility.

Ground solar, however, could provide most of the energy needs using about 7%
of the Sonoran desert, though it is a lot of money to invest. The problem is
not that there are no solutions but that everyone is doing the same 'blame
game' diversion as you to say that nothing *can* be done because nothing
*is* being done. Stupid, but then you have human nature which tends to
promote such one dimensional conventional answers despite the fact that the
*end is near* and someone is going to be left holding the 'hot potatoe' of
moving to sustainable energies.
