Methanol and di-methyl ether (along with jet fuel, gasoline, and diesel
fuel) are ALL liquid fuels. Methane is a gaseous fuel that is
worthwhile producing - AND - you can mix up to 8% of hydrogen by volume
with natural gas and not change the burning characteristics at all.
This means you can make immediate use of hydrogen to increase the
amount methane contributes with zero change of infrastructure!
