Yes, these definitely look real.

First article says, '.. to be 60 percent fuel efficient (compared to today's 33 percent)..'
The second, 'Studies showed engine efficiency increases from 33% to almost 40%'.
As 60% is tough even in a large combined cycle plant, I'd say the first article is 'booogus'. So, 'nearly double' is probably out.
