Don, you'll get no disagreement from me for anything in that post.
I am a bit sensitive about "There are scientists and engineers that
know the truth and speak propaganda
because it's their job", simply because just about anyone who has
advanced his/her career in science and engineering has faces the choice
of doing this or having their family face hardship. That's simply the
way it is until your children are raised, educated, and independent,
and you can life on a fraction of the income you once earned and say or
post what you really believe up to a limit.
Remember the old movies line, regarding the chasm that exists between
what is said and what is done!
You cannot do this when your income derives from the DOD, DOT, DOE,
NASA, or any of their contractors because if you do, that will be the
end of your career. In extreme cases, individuals have been actually
known to simply vanish. I suspect the same is true of professionals
employed by the major automobile firms, since big bucks are involved in
endorsing the company line.
