That's not entirely fair. There is an estimated 4 billion tons of ag waste
per year. There are also approximately 90 million acres in CRP. That is
alot of potential power. It will be realistic to use it when oil becomes
expesive enough



The reason ag waste is ag waste is that nobody can find a net energy use for it.

Ag waste is an extremely diffuse resource.
Gathering and processing that resource often consumes far more energy and capital than is recoverable.

For instance, around ten percent of the cotton around here gets plowed under, because a second picking or sweeping is not cost effective.
