We recently have some hydrogen busses driving around in my hometown inThe efficiency of hydrogen anything is utterly negligible.
California.
The hydrogen is produced from natural gas, then pumped into hydrogen storage
tanks in the bus, then burned in a hybrid engine.
Does anyone know what the efficiency is of turning natural gas into hydrogen
? And then from hydrogen back to work in the bus engine ? Assuming this is
the method of choice for hydrogen busses...
Or what would be the efficiency of turning natural gas into electricity,
then electricity to hydrogen, then hydrogen to electricity which then powers
an electric engine ?
This off course as opposed to the efficiency of simply running the bus on
natural gas directly...
Thanks !
