What about producing water?

So there is work on producing hydrogen, ethanol, methanol, biodiesel, and
others ... Does any of this stuff have hope for producing drinkable water
from some cheap source? Is the water from the use of hydrogen as a fule able
to be used as water for human consumption or for crop watering? I'm sure not
or it would be on the front page of every newspaper in the world, but I
wanted to ask.

- Previous by thread: But there is a catch. Hydrogen generally doesn't occur in nature by itself, but rather in combination with other elements. Today it is usually produced from fossil fuel.
