How is Ammonia produced?
Why do you want to know?
yes there are biological processes for fixing Nitrogen. Usually
involving bacteria on the roots of legumes.
The problem is that Nitrogen (80 % of atm) has very strong bonds, that
have to be broken to form ammonia.
Haber got the Nobel prize for developing mth to make ammonia.
Food production would be much much less wo the Haber process.
j.
Just wondering if electricity was part of the process similar to water
when H an O are bonded.
well, sorta, lightening is also a natural source of fixing nitrogen.
j.
haber process uses high temp and pressure
as far as I know this is still the only mtd for production of ammonia.
