maybe I could work out what the

That hydrogen is superior ot hydrocarbons in every way
No it isn't.
Its poor volumetric energy density rules it out for practical road use and
there'll never be an intercontinental hydrogen powered airliner either.
and now that we've got a way to make it at about 1/20th the cost of
hydrocarbons
No you haven't.

What do they say about counter-examples? Oh yeah, the existence of
one proves the falsity of a statement that says something will never
happen. Well, dude, the Soviet Union already built a hydrogen powered
airliner,
http://www.tupolev.ru/English/Show.asp?SectionID=82
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tupolev_Tu-154#Variants
Two prototypes based on this aircraft are the hydrogen- or natural gas-
powered Tu-155 and Tu-156. The Tu-155 prototype uses natural gas, or
methane, fuel for its central engine, and made its maiden flight in
the late 1980s.
In the Tu-156 all three engines are adapted to burn either hydrogen or
natural gas. Cryogenics technology is used to store the liquid fuel in
the Tu-155 and Tu-156.
and the US Army is looking at hydrogen power longer term;

So, people who aren't design engineers, people smarter than you,
Graham, beg to differ with your premature and ill-informed
conclusions.
