No more than powered AC receptacles use power when there's nothing

Utter nonsense. A 'powered roadway' is always wasting magnetisation current.

Not true. I've given you reference after reference and explained this
in gory detail. First, powered systems don't need maglev or magnetic
systems at all. Consider a slot car, or tram, or electric train.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_vehicle
And even systems that have maglev capability, they don't use electric
power to drive the maglev, they use halbach arrays in the vehicles,
and aluminum laminations in the track - or under the roadway;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halbach_array
And they are driven by wiggling the field IN THE VEHICLE - so, there
is absolutely no reason to do anything but APPLY POTENTIAL to the
roadway.
