I agree assuming that even if not food, it does not compete with food for
land, water, fertilizer and other resources. Furthermore, it must displace
fossil fuels and provide a net positive energy balance. In no way should it
require a fossil energy input anywhere nearly as great as the energy yield.
That's a complaint often levied at corn ethanol.



Perhaps a feedstock that doesn't suck the vast aquifer
dry, require loads of petrol based fertilizers and use premium land.
Switch grass biobutanol is least offensive.
