Usually a fault code on the dash's LCD display will tell you. Just read the
owner's manual.
Would it help if I pulled out my dealer shop manual, and listed what
all of these various sensors do, other than contribut to the cost of
maintenance of an automobile.
Having owned several fully ECU managed automobiles, I can tell you that they have
far exceeded the reliability and performance of traditional carburettor and
breaker + coil ignition type systems.
