Have you ever seen a piston with a hole completely through its top.

I have but for not quite same reason as you stated.

Have you seen a block with a hole in the side courtesy of an errant con-rod ? LOL
!

Graham

Sorry but no Graham, I have never seen that.

Then too, tend to avoid those poorly designed and manufacture European
made engines.

Speaking of European design and manufacturing expertise, when I was
employed by Kodak in Rochester, NY (which outside of England is the
coldest and dampest place on Earth, at the end of the workday I made a
rather interesting observation. Most of the European made cars
wouldn't start. Something to do with their ignition systems.

I could relate to that problem, because years before I had owned an
Opel, and part of my standard equipment was a propane torch that was
needed to dry out the ignition system on particularly cold and wet
days. I've driven American automobiles since, and no longer need to
carry a torch with me on the road.

Actually, I otherwise liked the Opel. It was a tiny station wagon
with a 42 HP 4 cylinder engine. Once running, it ran rather well,
until one fateful day when the drivers seat fell though the ruster
floorboads and was dragging on the roadway. That was a fun
experience! Since that time I've driven either Chevolets or
Fords. :-)
