I don't know about Dan, but I check my email very carefully, and
anything suspicious is always subject to a virus scan. Actually, the
Norton and Symantek firewall and Norton virus protection software seem
more than capable of defending me against anything thrown your way.
These products are well worth the $50 or so per year that is charged.
The problem is that when you post on newsgroups like this one, which
are heavily populated not only by informed, scientifically educated
professionals but mindless and malicious net kooks as well, you will
find that the kooks sometimes hurl their best "magic spell" at you,
which more often than not is either a 'worm' or a 'virus'.
In fact, I experience at least one virus infested email each day from
some idiot that labels his message as "Alive" with an attachment!
Sorry, but what a dumb ass this guy must be!
