Depends, some plastics don't like methanol, but have no problem with
ethanol, but for the most part, it's not too big a deal. Methanol has
about 70% of the btu's of ethanol, which is another issue, you'd need to
rejet the carb, or reprogram the EFI if you significantly change the
ratio of methanol-ethanol in the fuel.
The problem with using alchohol as a replacement for petroleum fuel, is
the biomass required to produce it in the first place. We use *way* too
much gasoline &etc to replace it all with biomass alchohol. Converting
some of the "waste" to alchohol or other fuels is a possibility, but it
won't *replace* gasoline/diesel use, only supplement it.
