Actually it was the USS New Jersey (Missouri's slightly older sister)
that fought in Vietnam. But the USS Missouri (and another slightly
older sister the USS Wisconsin) fought in Desert Storm in 1991.
Of course you have to understand that those ships undergo a lot of
maintenance and restoral. In fact, Missouri and Wisconsin both had
upgrades to the power plants in 1986. I'm not sure if New Jersey's
power plants were upgraded in 1968, 1981 or both.
