What kind of efficiencies are you looking for? You can buy a pound of
Red Star Bread Yeast at your local Costco for about five dollars, and
it's fine for production levels but it's going to die off around 8%
alcohol absolutely top and produce a lot of congeners.

I don't know how much the congener production is going to be a problem
for fuel production.

I would think that by going to a whiskey yeast or turbo yeast you might
be able to get twice the percentage alcohol before the yeast dies off,
but if you're looking for industrial quantities it may tend to be expensive.

What you consider a "small" quantity for industrial production is probably
a "very large" quantity for a home brewer even if it's a "tiny" quantity from
Hiram Walker's perspective.
